This is an international Y2K thriller involving high-powered investment bankers, the computer industry and an international conspiracy to hold the Western world hostage.

A Silicon Valley start-up company (HAL) develops a breakthrough Y2K technology to fix the Y2K computer problem. With the help of investment bankers, HAL is soon targeted for takeover by the largest computer technology firm in the world. HAL's unscrupulous CEO, Hegel, negotiates with the investment bankers with the intent to become an overnight multi-millionaire.

Concurrently, a high-ranking Indian government minister realizes that the world's Y2K problem poses a unique opportunity for India to forcefully claim its long-denied position of respect in the world community. The minister launches a conspiracy to insert a virus in all of the Y2K remediation work being performed by HAL, which includes infection of US government systems, Fortune 500 companies' systems and those of most industrialized countries. The world is held hostage by the Indian government's threat to activate the virus unless India's demands are met.
