Lewis Cole, former Department of Defense analyst turned columnist in the small resort town of Tyler Beach, N.H., plans to lie low for the January chill--and the chaotic presidential primary. Trouble starts when a Secret Service agent corners him about his past. And when someone takes a shot at presidential hopeful Senator Jackson Hale during a rally, it's Cole who is jailed as the prime suspect.

Luckily, a surveillance camera confirms Cole isn't the shooter, but he knows someone wants him framed. And when a body is found on his doorstep, he realizes his hidden enemy is deadly serious.
