Laura Meade loves her fancy, modern life but she's also fascinated by the Amish in Lancaster Valley, where she's studying interior design.
When Laura meets Eli Yoder, one of the plain people, she falls hopelessly in love. Never much of a churchgoer, Laura has no real concept of God's love or the need for forgiveness of sins.
Eli is enamored with Laura as well, but the rules of his church forbid him to marry outside the faith.
Is it good for two people - one plain, the other fancy - to fall in love? Will they find a way to be together?
