Excerpt from Peter And The Gingerbread Men:
The streets of Duskerville were dark and deserted. It was four in the morning, and the businesses and shops were shuttered and empty. Only the windows of the bakery were lit…and inside, shadows played on the walls.
George Baxter, the owner of Baxter's Bakery, stumbled out of the kitchen and collapsed on the cold, hard tiles of the main shop. He crawled forward on his hands and knees, sobbing pitifully " but something seized him by his ankles and pulled him back. He slid across the floor, his hands clawing helplessly at the linoleum.
“No…please, no…”
The attackers surrounded him and piled on, pinning down his arms and legs. One forced a spoon into his mouth and pried open his jaws.
“No…stop, please, no…”
Bit by bit, they forced uncooked dough into his mouth until his words were muffled. He gagged, but the intruders kept stuffing until his throat bulged and his body stopped moving.
Once he was unquestionably dead, his assailants left the body and went back into the kitchen.
The oven roared.
The next batch was ready.
