She didn't know her name, where she had come from, or how old she was. She had been discovered nearly half dead at the bottom of a well and brought to a convent to recover. The doctor guessed she was about seventeen -- and the nurse named her Perdita.
Gradually Perdita regained her physical strength, but not her memory. She felt increasingly drawn to a nearby horse farm and took a job there, discovering to her surprise that she was an excellent horsewoman.
As she prepared to ride in a local horse show, however, her menacing past began to unfold -- in frightening and elusive ways.
