"Paul McCartney's Coat and Other stories" is a collection of ten short stories from the mind of the increasingly difficult to categorise writer, Michael White. Crossing all genres each will in turn either make you laugh, make you cry, or maybe even surprise you with a twist in the tail In "Paul McCartney's Coat" it is early 1967 and The Beatles are busy recording the "Sgt Pepper" album at Abbey Road studios. In The Salt House public house however, a stranger to the band is about to change the history of one of their most popular songs forever. It all starts when Todd finds Paul McCartney's Coat left in the bar... The next story "3ef476053" sees Keith struggling to hold down a job at his local factory. Described by his mother as, "special," he is however doing very well. Nevertheless Keith does have quite an unusual way of looking at the world, as well as a secret, the details of which are about to affect everyone he works with forever... In "Squire Bidecombe's Tree" it is 1646 and Henry Bracebridge is charged by his squire with the task of cutting down a large tree that is dropping acorns all over the churchyard. The scene is set as every member of the village seems to get involved with the task, which threatens to go wildly wrong. Needless to say, Old Mother Alice will have something to say about the man in the oak too... When "Dad comes to visit" Gwen and Dai are less than happy to see him, and things get a lot worse when he decides to start up a card school. Gwen finds it equally difficult to bring dad up to speed with the last six years of Emmerdale and Coronation Street, and with good reason, because six years is exactly how long dad has been dead for... In "The King of the Tyrant Lizards" Colin and the crew of the spaceship "Baptistina" are on a delicate mission to secure a particular exhibit for display in their local museum. There are only two problems: first of all they may be just a tiny bit too late, and secondly they are not exactly from planet Earth in the first place... Being joined with five other stories: "Dear diary," "An Inspector Calls," "How I Invented International Talk Like A Pirate Day by William (Aged 81/4)," "The Cat is Back " and "For Absent friends" the collection of short stories contains something for every reader. Please note that all of the stories in the collection are also available separately in Kindle Format. In 2011 "Beatles Freak Reviews" reviewed the title story of the collection and said, "If you're a fan of short stories you'll enjoy reading this tall tale."
