Peggy Thompkins could hardly believe that she'd actually done it -- burned all her bridges and struck out in a whole new direction. She'd divorced her husband of 27 years, finished her college education, sold her house, and resigned her job as unpaid babysitter to her grandkids. On top of all that, she'd left Kansas far behind and accepted a job teaching junior high in New Mexico. Now, she was all alone in her rented "nest" perched high on a cliff overlooking Lake Sumner. Solitude... at last!
But Peggy's solitude didn't last. A handsome widowed rancher on his way to the lake for some fishing stopped by, offered to help her get settled... and made her heart race when he touched her. Darnit, Peggy thought, she'd fought hard to win her independence, and Clinton Howard had "let me take care of you" written all over him. Could she possible reconcile her newfound freedom with a brand-new, irresistible urge to open her door to Clint... and give herself a chance to love again?
