When Walanda, a schizophrenic, crack-addicted prostitute, is murdered, Duffy pledges to take care of her basset hound, Allah-King, and find her missing stepdaughter, Shony. Can a not-so-social social worker who moonlights as an underdog boxer save the girl and solve the murder with just the help of a disobedient basset hound and four drunk friends?
