Jennifer embarks on a casual trip to her hometown in Wisconsin, but finds more than the simple visit home she expected. Her aunt's collection of rolling pins starts a journey through Jenny's family heritage. Each rolling pin represents a person's story, as well as the love and anguish experienced along the way. The family legends engulf Jenny, compelling her to examine her life away from Wisconsin. Jackie Gould's distinctive use of the rolling pins as the medium for initiating the narration of family legends makes each tale all the more captivating and memorable. This novel employs the depth of historical ties and heritages without detracting from the gratifying presence of common themes--rather, these qualities engage to strengthen the novel's appeal.
