Helen Davis, S.R.N., does not long for adventure, nor travel to faraway places. She is perfectly happy living in her native North Wales and when her friend Mair tells her she is only half-alive, Helen is unmoved. Yet, somehow, she finds herself taking a job in the exotic South Pacific, meeting people unlike any she has known - Colin Fraser, the light hearted, irresponsible young island doctor, and medical officer Paul Strang, so sternly efficient.
