Eager to have some time alone to recover from a broken romance and to finish writing a book on psychology, Adrien Reynolds retreats to northern Michigan for what she thinks will be a cozy, isolated winter in a beautiful glass house high on the dunes. From the very first day, though, her tranquility is shattered by the appearance on the scene of a handsome, dynamic man who Adrien suspects is much more than the handyman he leads her to believe he is. She is determined not to let him distract her from her work, but before she can rebuild her defenses, she finds the mysterious man disturbing not only her solitude, but also her heart -- and wreaking havoc upon all her scholarly theories about love!
