Blackjack Endicott, the Boston banker who rubs shoulders with both mobsters and millionaires, is called to California to find out who's trying to blackmail FDR with some very unseemly photographs of Elliott. Tipped off by Meyer Lansky that labor racketeers are behind the scheme. Blackjack and the beautiful Charlotte Wendell take the Zephyr to Hollywood, where they mingle with mobsters, movie stars and moguls the likes of Sam Goldwyn, Jean Harlow and Bugsy Siegel.

But the case quickly moves from Hollywood's golden stratosphere to the shady side of Tinseltown as Endicott makes his way through a web of dangerous Mafia connections. And when bullets start to fly, Blackjack realizes that blackmail is only the beginning...someone wants FDR dead!
