Murderers Are Silent — Robert Clarke

Detective George Hobart first met notorious Frank Zeno at Southern California's Del Mar racetrack. The second time he saw Zeno the man was dead with a bullet in the heart and one in the brain. It took another death, that of entrepreneur Buddy Starr, to put Hobart on the trail of a murderer. After that all he had to do was stitch the facts together for the District Attorney. But he was only just able to do it, and even then he had to stretch the law a little.
