Hartley Rhys, investigator and trouble-shooter for the Sword Shipping Line of Singapore, was on the trail of a suspected hijacker and murderer aboard the cross-Australian Indian-Pacific express.

Also on board were Cyrus Macrimmon, fabulously wealthy and eccentric owner of gold mines; his daughter, the beautiful and equally eccentric Lady Mary Richland; The Abo, Macrimmon's aborigine manservant; assorted Malaysian nationalists; and Darya Javenel, lovely sister of the man Rhys sought.

Rhys' investigations touched off a series of events that could only lead to an explosive climax as the train hurtled across the continent, hell-bent for disaster!
