Picking up a hitchhiker in a blizzard was a dangerous thing to do, but Lily Danziger was already living on the edge. Having run from the so-called security of New England society, she and her newborn were on their own -- destination unknown. Before the day was out, however, Lily's rugged fellow traveler was doing the rescuing. If it hadn't been for Quist, Lily and her baby would have died in their snowbound car As it was, he not only found them warm shelter, he also began to generate some heat of his own.
