The Michaelsons seemed to have it made: the newfound aliens called the Miquiri had established a diplomatic outpost on the edge of human space, and trusted no human craft to dock there except the trading ship crewed by Captain Kiley Michaelson and her family. But in exchange for access to a world of new trade goods, the Michaelsons were forced to run errands for the Space Corps--and their latest assignment involved transporting not only the Miquiri but their rival species, the Gan-Tir.
The Gan-Tir were huge, powerful, ruthless--and utterly alien. Accustomed to a life of subterfuge and coercion, they were unpredictable and often violent. And they had demanded a three-species diplomatic meeting light-years away. Kiley had to take the aliens on--even though any trouble aboard could turn the warlike, suspicious Gan-Tir against humanity once and for all.
As the journey began, the gap between the species had never seemed wider. Earning the Gan-Tir's trust seemed impossible. Trusting them was out of the question...
