MELODY OF THE DAY is happily crafted and has a jovial echo that it desires the reader to hear. The book is exactly what it wants to be: some poems steeped in now-ness, others in nostalgia. They bring joy for the most part by being joyful. Barbara has written three books of delightful and intriguing poems. Her five books are in the research library at the Schomburg Center in Harlem.
