Marauders. A Novel. As the human race expanded into the heavens it became immediately clear we were alone in our Galaxy. The Galaxy had not always been empty of intelligent life however. The ruins of numerous civilizations dotted the expanse of the Milky Way. Some of these ruins were millions of years old but why and where the owners had gone was a mystery the human race had never been able to solve. Some believed that there was or had been a mysterious race of plunderers and destroyers which solely targeted intelligent civilizations but no hard evidence had ever been unearthed. The mysterious race of annihilators had been dubbed the Civilization Destroyers. The Chino-Federation war was over but tensions between the two remained high. Both the Federation and the Chinese Empire possessed massive Navies yet when the machine invaders arrived at the outskirts of the Chinese holdings the Chinese were swept before them with almost no resistance. Characters of note; Kimmy and Spencer Brummell are retired and on a semi-permanent voyage to see the Universe until events beyond their control bring Kimmy and her unique talents to the defense of humanity. Bill and Yates are freighters who ply their trade in the Chinese holdings and are well familiar with danger. Joey, Misty and Matthew of the Black Cat Squadron of Federation fighters. Charlie and Ryan who are professional Space Racers until the call of duty brings the entire Space Racing Association to stand in the way of the nearly invincible machines. Together with the rest of humanity they must not only repel the invaders but completely annihilate them or the human race would add its ruins to those of the other extinct intelligent predecessor races which had vanished without a trace. The machines had not come to subjugate mankind they had come to destroy it. If the machine race which was named the Marauders was the same as that earlier race dubbed the Civilization Destroyers then it was a dire day indeed and up to our heroes to save the day. Failure could not be an option when failure meant extinction. Thank you and enjoy. Ronald Wintrick
