The comic world’s first crime-fighting super-hero! The creation of 19-year-old comic legend Lee Falk, Mandrake debuted as a daily newspaper strip in June 1934, predating both Superman and Batman by several years, and his comic strip adventures would go on to run for an unbroken 79 years. During that time, he appeared in movies, radio series, books, a TV movie, a Columbia-produced cliffhanger serial, a stage paly and the 1980s animated show, Defenders of the Earth. This new collection reprints the Mandrake Sunday strips from February 3 1935 to August 29 1937, and features over 130 full-color Sunday newspaper strips. It also includes Mandrake’s first six complete adventures, a biography of both Lee Falk and Phil Davis, and a feature on the history of Mandrake.
