Lords of the Seventh Swarm — Dave Wolverton

On a planet of strange and horrific alien creatures and plants, colonized by a few even stranger humans, the insectoid Dronons have cornered Gallen, Orick, and Maggie. They have come for Maggie because she is their Golden Queen. For the Dronon she is an abomination that has halted their conquest of the galaxy and she must be destroyed. For the human race she is the only hope of survival.

There is no possible escape; if there is any hope at all, it lies at the bottom of the unexplored alien jungle, underneath a thousand feet of poisonous vegetation swarming with lethal predators.
