Annalise Wood has haunted the town of Lilling near Cambridge for decades. She went missing in 1976 and while her body was found years later, her name and memory have been etched into the community. One girl who is especially interested in the case is Annalise Williams who believes that sharing a name with the dead girl has created a connection between them. As Morris Keene and his former partner, Detective Inspector Chloe Frohmann are called in to reinvestigate the original case, they must question previous assumptions and piece together a forty-year-old puzzle that has fresh roots in a mysterious present-day drowning.
