Over at the cafe on Dogwood Avenue, Annie Mae Taylor was always ready with a cheery smile and a free meal for down-and-out passersby. But Lee Cameron refused to be treated as a charity case, by Annie or anyone else. He was handsome and intelligent, reticent about his past, almost broke but clearly well-educated.
