Though Skye McDaniels is attracted to Clayton Bonds, she keeps her distance. Clay is friendly and handsome, but Skye is afraid he'll never be accepted by the in crowd at Emerson High. Skye thinks his clothes are all wrong, his car is uncool, and to make matters worse, Clay doesn't seem very bright.

When Skye discovers that Clay has trouble reading, she offers to tutor him. She soon falls in love with Clay and realizes how shallow and snobbish her concerns have been. But Clay's fierce pride has already been badly wounded. Has Skye learned her lesson too late?
