A mother and her sixteen year-old daughter are hiding out in an apartment overlooking New York's Central Park when tragedy occurs; Miriam Yoder is attacked and left for dead. There months later, she learns that she got pregnant.
When Martha Yoder learns that her boss was the attacker, she must make a decision to stay at the job or leave and find work elsewhere. Martha chooses to protect her daughter and moves them to an old farm house in rural New york.
On one fateful day, their hiding place is revealed and her mother is murdered. Just hours later, Miriam delivers a healthy a baby girl. With a full tank of gas and very little money, Miriam and her newborn go cross-country, sleeping in their car.
Out of gas and money on the trip back home, Miriam becomes stranded in quaint Walnut Creek, Ohio, where Amish families and tourism go hand and hand. By chance, she meets Jeremiah Yoder, who has been praying for a wife ever since he'd become the single parent of his sister's two daughters.
Miriam is everything that Jeremiah has listed on his "future wife list." However, he risks losing everything if he falls in love with her, for she is forbidden. Will he take a chance on love, and will Miriam settle down and find a family to call her own?
