"Don't you think you had better introduce me to your aunt one of these days?" Clayton said.
"Well," .Amanda admitted, "I haven't told her about you."
He was silent for a long time, while he stood lost in thought. Then for the second time that day he surprised her. "You're good for me, Amanda. That steady, rock-bottom quality you have, that repose that irons out tensions. Of all things I anticipated that is the very last."
"What did you expect?"
"I thought," he said deliberately, "that I would find you a first-class, Grade A witch."
