When the corpse of Edgar Bissonet -- a prosperous and influential businessman, but not the best golfer -- turns up at the seventh hole of the Wyler Country Club, lawyer Andrew Broom's hopes for a leisurely summer of golf and gossip quickly disappear. The evidence points to Edgar's son, Matthew, who hires Andrew as his lawyer. Convinced that Matthew is innocent, Andrew and Gerald, his nephew and partner, embark on a defense strategy that reveals numerous skeletons in the Bissonet closet. Broom is pleased to be working on an investigation in which he can combine a visit to the crime scene with a quick nine holes. But as the trial draws near, the stakes become much higher -- and he just might lose the case.
