Young John Breckenridge runs away from home after a vicious fight with his stepbrother, Fletch. He figures on joining a herd going north and getting himself a job as a drover. Then he meets up with Lee Corbitt. The man saves young Breckenridge's life in an Indian ambush, and later offers him a job. But as they travel, Breckenridge begins to put the pieces together: Corbitt is an outlaw! And he expects Breckenridge to join his gang!
