Technically, there is a name for what Orem Clancy is doing: breaking the law. When he decides to help the slave Togg Jackson escape from his brutal master, Baldwin Colensworth, Orem knows the move will not make him popular. Tensions are running high in Louisiana over the slavery issue, and when folks learn that Orem Clancy is harboring the runaway on his ranch in Texas, there will be a hefty price to pay. Orem believes he can use logic with Colensworth, convince him to accept payment for Togg. But Colensworth is known as The Bull of Louisiana, and when Orem attempts to negotiate with him, he is drawn into a deadly trap.
