Journey's End — Anna Stanton
Most girls would leap at the chance of a date with Guy Carver, the handsome, sexy film star no woman could hold. But not Cassie MacRae, assistant to the director of Guy's new film. She knew his reputation, and had no intention of becoming the latest in his string of conquests. So it was all the more annoying that she had to request his help when some very suspicious information turned up...
Guy said quietly, “I was just wondering…what you'd do if I kissed you.”
Cassie froze. In an instant, a confusion of feelings numbed into her mind, foremost of which was anger. She had been right -- all this had, after all, been a clever way of getting her to relax with him, so that he could make his move. And she thought she knew, too, exactly why he had decided to do it. He had met a girl who did not fall at his feet within seconds, and his pride couldn't take rejection…
He was still looking at her, waiting for an answer to his question. Cassie took a deep breath and replied levelly, “I'd turn around and walk out of this room”>
“Why?”
He had moved closer to her, and the dark-fringed grey eyes were alight. Suddenly something inside Cassie snapped…
