Journey's Edge — Roger James

Imagine in your mind a man who currently lives on Florida's Gold Coast staring at the ocean from his condo's balcony. His two years of total debauchery ended over a year ago. Unbeknownst to him, certain people he caroused with during this period have a greater importance than he thought. They have the capacity to help shape his life if he will only let them. Prior to this past year of reflection, he has always been sure of himself in all things. He now finds the answers he has sought on his own have not come. What has resulted is a realization he is unfulfilled and spiritually lost. He cries out a simple prayer for God's help. Reaching out to God should have been his first resort not his last. A stranger of unknown origin offers him a journey of self-discovery. If taken, it must be accepted on faith alone. Relinquishing control goes against every fiber of his being. He struggles with the decision as he reflects on his past life. But who is this stranger and from where has he come? This question nags at him as he learns more and more about himself. Not all is as it seems. The obvious choice is to take a chance. He is told, for each human being, nothing in life is preordained. His free will and that of others will shape what is to come. There is much more to life than what he has surrounded himself during all of his years. There are greater truths than what his experiences have taught him. The absolute truth is not something to be bent to the interpretation of an individual. Any journey worth beginning requires resolve to get started as well as the dedication to see it through.
