It was bad luck for Mark Preston when he found Benny Hall murdered. Benny was Family, and dangerous people were involved. Hired by one faction and under threat from another, Preston found himself in a twilit world of blue movies and child prostitutes. A young schoolgirl was missing, and he had to find her. He also had to find the killer. Bodies began to pile up, and Rourke of Homicide was blaming Preston. The one bright spot was a racehorse. Its name? The Loser.
