It is a story of a young lad that overcame many adversities in life. Severe sickness as a child, placed in an orphanage at age three, living in many different homes including a reform school that was worse that many prisons at the time, Bob overcame these hardships and became a hero to his country. He later married and had five children, four sons and one daughter. He also served 4 years in the U. S. Navy and later retired from a career as a letter carrier for the Postal Service. He has also written poetry, written several songs, acted in Civic Theater, has appeared in TV commercials and brochures. He is also the author of a children?s Christmas story titled ?LEROY THE SMALLEST ELF OF ALL.? In addition Bob has boxed for the Army and Navy and has also boxed professionally. He has jumped from airplanes while serving in the Army and Navy and is also a certified diver. In 1998, Bob learned that he had been recommended for the Medal of Honor forty five years after the battle for Boomerang! This story concludes with little known facts mostly unknown as to how the Army Awards Board awards the Medal of Honor.
