A BRAND NEW BALL GAME
Alex Langdon had been in St. Louis for the last six months. Meg Shepherd had seen him on the local news and read his popular sports column in the paper. Now Meg had to venture into Busch Stadium if she wanted to enlist one of the players to boost the spirits of a patient at the hospital where she worked. It was a worthy cause, but was it worth the risk of running into Alex?
In their college days, Meg and Alex had been friends -- just friends. In Meg's dreams, they danced together through silken clouds. But in reality, their relationship never reached the level of romance. And their friendship ended disastrously when a misunderstanding capped off a series of outlandish practical jokes.
That was six years ago. By Meg's reckoning, the game was over. She was through with Alex, the brash, brave prankster whose sparkling blue eyes had once delighted her. The only problem was that men like Alex refused to give up a game until there was a final score. And this game wasn't over -- not by a long shot!
