For Monica Tye it took fast-paced days that began before dawn and ended at midnight. For her daughter, Stacie, who was on her way to becoming Aspen's latest championship skater, it took a dizzying schedule of practice and competitions.

Duffy Copenhaver couldn't see the sense of it. Both mother and daughter were so busy trying to please the other that they didn't have time to know whether they were happy or not.
