Naomi Peters, 15, is a brain on the fast track to Harvard prelaw. She hangs out with a group of kids whose parents are successful and expect their children to follow in their footsteps. On a lark, she tries out for the school play, Beauty and the Beast, and gets the lead. She is immediately attracted to the Beast, Dylan Russo, and feels a chemistry between them that she'd only read about in romance novels. Josh, whom she's known for years, has been more of a good friend than a boyfriend. Dylan is from the wrong side of town, rides a Harley Davidson, and encourages her to cut her hair and skip school. Naomi struggles with a new relationship that is meaningful to her, but feels no support from her family, drama teacher, or friends. She must make the decision of how to resolve her two worlds on her own and almost loses Dylan in the process.
