A brilliant young doctor wanted her; a handsome, ambitious man loved her. To whom would her heart turn?
Who held the key to her heart?
Kate Dorn, as the resident nurse at one of New York's most glamorous hotels, responded to the pain and heartaches of those who needed her.
Handsome Doctor Andrews was a man she could lean on in her life as a nurse.
Yet it was brilliant John Morris who attracted her.
The Carleton Hotel on Fifth Avenue in New York City was a landmark of sorts, one of the last of the truly elegant establishments in Manhattan in which beautiful furnishings and courteous service was traditional. Therefore, Kate Dorn, the hotel nurse, was distressed that the institution was threatened with demolition so that a starkly modern office building could take its place.
In the meantime, she was far too busy to brood. For in addition to treating ill an elderly residents, such as the ninety-year-old grande dame, wealthy and imperious, who distrusted doctors and seldom stirred fr4om her penthouse apartment, she had unforeseen emergencies -- a waiter burned in the kitchen, for instance -- with which to cope. In addition, Kate somehow found her duties included trying to patch up a broken romance, and dealing with the violence brought about by the visit of a Latin American dictator who was unwelcome as his presence was dangerous.
