Cobe and his brother never should have run away from Burn.

After narrowly escaping the horrors of Big Hole, the lawman and his band of reluctant followers are captured by the vile Lode and taken to the town of Rudd. They're beat, broken, and dispirited along the way, but the greatest challenge yet awaits. The Rites are about to begin. Contestants -- degenerates, abnormals, and unwanted all -- selected from Burn and Rudd are thrown into the pit to fight for their lives.

But Lothair Eichberg and a select few survivors from a thousand years past are on their trail. They'll cross the roller-infested plains, and climb the forested hills swarming with murderous, inbred mutants, to find the lawman.
