It wasn't the first time Jerry had postponed their wedding for "business reasons." It was the first time in nine years of loving him that Carol asked herself if she still wanted to marry him.

"Homes of Tomorrow for Brides of Today" is architect Jerry Powers slogan for the ultramodern houses he designs -- and is willing to do anything to sell. His high pressure sale tactics bother his gal Friday and interior decorator Carol Kane, who feels most of Jerry's clients would be happier in old-fashioned cottages than one of his futuristic "goldfish bowls". But in love with Jerry since she was 16, Carol makes excuses for him...and plans to marry him. The day of the wedding Jerry phones: to sell a house to about-to-be-wed Texas millionaire, Paul Gordon and he needs Carol's help. Unfortunately, their own wedding will have to be postponed. Now Carol rebels. She'll help, but for the last time. The next honeymoon house she has anything to do with will be her own to move into -- and not necessarily as Mrs. Jerry Powers.
