Harlen Sims, a bull riding champion, and his friend Jake Pouchot, an Ojibwa Indian, have run afoul of a powerful criminal syndicate operating in Wyoming in the mid 1960s. Agents of this syndicate--a cast of characters ranging from bumbling fools to sharp-minded and highly skilled assassins--pursue them relentlessly across the West.
