As the sub-title, 'A TALE OF MORTALS, MYTHS AND MYSTERY' suggests, this novel is cross-genre: psychological murder-mystery with a supernatural element.
The two main protagonists, Anna an English children's writer and Nils, a Danish farmer turned restaurateur, meet on the island of Mallorca where Anna is writing a fairy-tale inspired by the characters she meets. Anna needs inspiration for a cave for her dragon and Nils lives in a cave-house. A relationship develops between the two but Nils is shadowed by a mythical Norse dragon which appears to Anna in dreams and takes readers back into an ancient Viking past, buried deep in Nils' psyche.
Anna and her girlfriends; partners Jane, a reporter, and Zhu, a therapist, try to uncover what happened to Nils' ex-wife and suspect he is hiding something behind a locked door in the cave-house.
