It was a big adventure for Sophy when she went to work in Paris. She was young, she had never been abroad before and she knew no one there - so it seemed a good idea when a kind friend arranged for her to meet her cousin Tom, who lived there, with the general idea that Tom should keep a kindly eye on Sophy. But the splendid idea looked like coming to nothing when Tom made it patently clear he wasn't interested. Well, neither was she, thought Sophy crossly. She would do very well for herself without his doubtful help. Yet somehow or other she and Tom did keep running into one another . . . .
