The mouse in the corner, Hannah, comes to life in Book Nine of the series.I am a computer geek working for a detective in the local law enforcement office. When my eyesight declines to the point I can't see a monitor, I am put on leave. My prayers are answered when I am suddenly given a second chance on life with one condition; take that life and live it to the fullest. I intend to keep that promise. In the middle of the night, I am called by a private detective to help in a desperate search in a kidnapping. What happens next opens up an opportunity in life I never thought could happen, but also threatens to reveal my past that I have worked so hard to keep hidden. Hannah Book Eight Excerpt: A siren echoed through the house. My heart jumped to my throat as my eyes stared at Eva's suddenly anxious ones. What the hell is that? She asked. Ethan! I gasped and ran past her to the garage and flung open the door. Lucy wasn't there. Where's Lucy? I asked as I turned and ran back through the house to my computer room. Eva was right behind me. What about Ethan? Nick has Lucy. We thought you'd be sleeping this morning. I jumped on my ball chair and my fingers were flying over the keyboard and mouse. I have an alert tracking certain code words on the police scanners and if Ethan is hurt or in trouble the siren goes off. What the hell? Did you have this on him when he was shot? She asked. I didn't know him then...I met him right after he returned to duty. She looked over my shoulder. What's the matter with him? I have five large monitors and the message appeared on the middle one. We both leaned in to read it. He's been detained... I whispered. For...drug possession? Eva said incredulously. No f***ing way. I clicked more and my head turned to the far-right monitor, Eva's followed. What...? She began to say when a video feed popped up on the monitor showing an empty grey room with just a table with two chairs on each side of it. It's the interrogation room at the station, I said and turned back to the middle monitor and began typing. I read the messages coming through. Damn it, call me, I muttered. Who? Eva asked. Burrows...if he doesn't, I need to talk to Vince and ask if I can go in the grey area...this one makes my gut hurt. Mine too...I'll call Vince. There is no way that Ethan is doing drugs. Eva, I whispered with dread. They are saying he was selling them.
