They were young, and mainly reluctant, conscripts who were sent to fight the communists in the 50,000 square miles of jungle that covered four fifths of the most beautiful country, Malaya. Under the leadership and guidance of experienced NCO's they took the fight to the enemy and in a remarkably short space of time became regarded as the best jungle fighters in the world. They fought with courage and tenacity against the terrain, the climate and a ruthless enemy. Throughout, they retained the sense of humour and compassion that has served the British solPOD-Distribution & Short Runer so well through the ages, whether they were in the steaming jungle or sampling the pleasures of the exotic cities and towns. They left home as boys but returned as men.
