Goin' Down to Egypt — Nancy Riecken

Ben and his father hitch up the horses and leave their farm in northern Illinois in order to find corn in the far south. Ben's big brother Daniel thinks that Ben won't be of any help on the journey. “He's just excess baggage,” Daniel claims. But their father believes that his small son can make himself useful. Just how useful is anyone's guess, but when disaster strikes, Ben is tested beyond the strength of his young years. Will he pass the test?
