Gay's pranks were a continual annoyance to him, and just now she was locked in her room to prevent her from visiting with some of her more frivolous friends. Fortunately there was a rescuer in sight-the handsome Jon Carroll, who was less concerned with Gay's pleas for freedom than he was with the fact that she was locked in with no key left in the house. Jon Carroll proves to be Judge Fleming's rescuer, too. His aunt was an old college friend of Gay's mother, and Aunt Flora's ranch would be the perfect hiding place for Gay until after the Judge is reelected.
