His land and ancestral house sold, and finally divorced from his beautiful but poisonous wife Anthea, Anthony, Lord Beaucourt, is free to find a new love and perhaps, this time, to fulfil his dream of having a family. Avoiding the obvious match-making of some of his new neighbours, he finds himself drawn to the lovely young granddaughter of an Italian Contessa whose art collection is on exhibition in York.
Gianetta meanwhile now works in the History of Art department at the university, and realises that Anthony still seems to regard her only as a dear friend. So, in turn, she finds solace with a colleague.
Life is further complicated by the machinations of Anthea and Clayton, but the threads of all the characters' lives are finally brought to a conclusion in this, the fourth book of the series Random Choreography.
