As springtime turns Alcester's East End from filthy white to filthy brown, Detective Timothy Hudson is starting to realize why Captain Hood protected Detective Andrew Mackenzie as long as he did. Tim's reformed partner is clinging to sobriety, and their stats are reflecting the fact Mackenzie is one of the most productive detectives in all of Alcester. But with the discovery of a child's body they find themselves suddenly on the trail of an unknown killer, and Mackenzie has to face part of the past he has hidden from for too long. With new temps holding East End chairs no seasoned detectives want, the team has to stop a killer before his next victim goes from missing to dead.
