Folly of Love — Lilian Woodward

Jenny Paton's sick father seems strangely agitated when she returns to their lonely Yorkshire farmhouse from London. Is he worried by the fact that the new motorway will cross the farm's bottom field? What does he know that no one else does? Two men love Jenny, one of them a motorway engineer. Eventually the mystery of Far End Farm is solved but it almost costs Jenny's life.
