Terry Rawlins has an exciting job as pilot for a small air service on the coast of Maine. In the fairest weather and the stormiest, she flies her one-engine Cessna from the mainland to the nearby islands, carrying mail, packages, and people. Then E.K. Stirling, a multi-millionaire, arranges and expensive treasure-hunting expedition nearby and hires Terry and her plane on a daily basis. That's when she learns about real excitement. Not only is she caught up in a conflict between the local fishermen and the treasure hunters, but there's bigger conflict in her heart. A conflict involving the two most interesting, exasperating young men who work for Stirling. One of them says her loves Terry. So why--oh, why--must she long for the other one?
