Flight Hostess — Emily Thorne

The weather was foul, and the extra-fare Victory Special from Chicago to New Orleans was late. Flight Hostess Lyle Maxon walked up the aisle answering questions, comforting the nervous, joking with the experienced passengers.

“You must have learned how to size people up pretty well,” said the young man in brown. “Would you be able to tell a crook from an honest man?”

Lyle laughed and moved on. He was an attractive young man and that was a line she hadn't heard before.

But it wasn't a line. One of her passengers was carrying $100,000 worth of jewels -- and another planned to steal them!
